Talk:CA's Prop 60
From Libertarian Wiki
Prop 60 is dubious at best. First of all, propositions are supposed to be single-issued declarations of a proposed change in law or government operation, is it not? Not only does 60 toss together two extraordinarily diverse subjects, the part on using state surplus funds to pay the now grossly-inflated interest on the bail-out bill is, at best, a shell game with taxpayer funds. It looks as though Sacramento doesn't want to admit to the voters they have no other way of paying the debt without raising taxes so they instead shuffle how funds are delegated to the General fund to hide their indescretions. Regarding the primary election issue, this would be redundant as the California constitution already provides what this bill proposes. It is, I suppose, a balance to the Prop 62 third party death nell.
Well, it looks like this prop. will be split. IMHO, we should vote Yes on both. It is important that the primary election part gets more votes than Prop. 62 because if both pass, the one with the most votes takes effect. Paul Studier 19:15, 31 Jul 2004 (PDT)
