War Between Protection Agencies

  1. Criticism: Protection agencies would solve their problems by battling each other resulting in constant violence
    Assumptions: GLOPAG
    Solutions:
    1. It would be more expensive for a protection agency to do battle than to solve the conflict through arbitration and so arbitration would be favored over violence.

  2. Criticism: If a really successful protection agency got bigger than all the others combined, it could take out it's competition through force and have a monopoly
    Assumptions: GLOPAG
    Solutions:
    1. If the successful protection agency accomplished its goal, then you would be back to where you started since this would be a government (i.e. monopoly on force). But if the people did not like what was happening, they could stop being customers of the company trying to establish a monopoly and then their funds to wage the war would disappear, making it far more difficult to win. On top of that, if people really didn't like what was happening, they could volunteer to help the little guys out (i.e. citizen militia). If the once successful protection agency, had its income stream severed and all the citizens joined sides with their competition, it would be difficult to imagine the once successful protection agency coming out on top.
