FPR - Fire Protection

  1. Criticism: Fires would not be put out
    Assumptions:
    Solutions:
    1. FIN - Fire insurance companies would handle this. This would be a lot easier today since we have computers and they could easily know what houses are their clients and which are not.
References: Use today in supplementing current fire protection

  2. Criticism: But there wouldn't be any good way to notify insurance companies that there is a fire occurring
    Assumptions: FPRFIN
    Solutions:
    1. Fire insurance companies could band together providing a single number to call and then this would be forwarded to the correct company.
    2. A charity could provide a phone number for people to call and then it could forward this onto all the fire insurance companies in the area.
    3. The citizens of that area could set up a number and then take turns volunteering to handle calls.

  3. Criticism: If a person didn't have insurance, their house would just burn down.
    Assumptions: FPRFIN
    Solutions:
    1. Insurance companies would come out and offer to put out the fire for a fee.
    2. The fire insurance company would offer to buy their house for a low price then put the fire out making a profit on their newly acquired house. This is actually how the whole fire protection thing got started hundreds of years ago back in, I think it was London - so this is a proven workable business model.
